‘Can’t be part of system stepping on voices,’ says Tezpur University's PRO after quitting

Digital Desk: Tezpur University is currently dealing with a severe institutional crisis, following the abrupt departure of Samaresh Barman, the university's Public Relations Officer, who cited "ethical concerns" and a "clash of conscience."

In his resignation letter to Vice Chancellor Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh, Barman accused the administration of putting individual interests ahead of the institution's and students' wellbeing, undermining the university's essential ideals.

"I can no longer be a part of a system that stifles voices," Barman wrote, thanking his alma mater for the opportunity.

Barman's departure comes amid rising campus tensions following the administration's contentious decision to hold Tezpur University Students' Council (TUSC) elections on September 21, during Assam's three-day mourning period for music icon Zubeen Garg.

Students and academics criticized the move for being inconsiderate and dismissive of cultural sentiments.
