“Ceasefire between India, Pakistan was bilateral”: Vikram Misri

Digital Desk: Asserting that the decision to halt military operations was made bilaterally between the two neighbors, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri told a parliamentary committee on Monday that the United States had no involvement in mediating the truce between India and Pakistan.

After some opposition members questioned US President Donald Trump's frequent claims about his administration's role in halting the fighting, Misri made his comments.

Operation Sindoor, a recent military operation conducted by the Indian armed forces, has marked a significant tactical success while also highlighting substantial vulnerabilities within Pakistan's military arsenal. The operation has particularly shed light on the underperformance of Chinese-made defense systems, which account for nearly 82% of Pakistan's defense imports.

The Chinese-made HQ-9 air defense system, touted as a robust shield against aerial threats, failed to intercept multiple Indian missile strikes, including those involving India's indigenous BrahMos missiles. Indian aircraft successfully evaded detection or jammed the HQ-9 systems, raising concerns about their operational reliability against modern platforms.
