17 Manipur BJP MLAs demand new government
Digital Desk: A significant development has unfolded in Manipur's political landscape, with 17 BJP MLAs coming together to demand the formation of a new government led by a fresh chief ministerial face.
Four additional BJP MLAs – Karam Shyam, Govindas Konthoujam, Sapam Kunjakeshwor, Khongbantabam Ibomcha have joined the group of 13 dissident MLAs opposing Biren Singh's re-continuation as chief minister.
A decisive meeting is scheduled for May 19 at Karam Shyam's residence in Imphal, where all 17 MLAs will convene to discuss the leadership transition.
Ahead of this meeting, a late-night gathering was held at Keba's residence, where the four new MLAs met with four others from the original 13 MLAs to align strategies and reinforce their consensus on replacing Biren Singh.
