38th National Games: Assam's Lovlina Borgohain and Ankushita Boro win gold, Shiv Thapa and Abhinav Saikia win silver and Aikon Milli won bronze

 

On Friday, five Assam boxers won medals, including two golds, at the current 38th National Games 2025.

Boxers Lovlina Borgohain and Ankushita Boro won gold, Shiva Thapa and Abhinav Saikia took silver, and Aikon Milli got bronze.

Lovlina, fighting in the women's middleweight (75 kg) division, used her extensive experience and expertise to defeat her Himachal Pradesh opponent. The triumph added another gold to Assam's collection, cementing her legacy on the national stage.

In the women's 66kg division, Ankushita Boro maintained her excellent form, defeating her Uttarakhand opponent in the final to win her third national gold medal. Boro's strong performance solidifies her status as one of the country's top boxers.

Aside from the gold medals, Assam's seasoned international boxer Shiva Thapa and budding prospect Abhinab Saikia also won silver medals, contributing to the state's outstanding performance at the renowned event.

Earlier in the day, Tutumoni Boro won a bronze medal in the mixed team archery event at the National Sports Championships, adding to Assam's medal tally.

The 38th National Games, which began with the triathlon on January 26, feature tight competition in 32 sports, with athletes from 28 states, eight Union Territories, and the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) competing for top awards.
