AIUDF member Aminul Islam detained under NSA claims linking Pahalgam attack to govt conspiracy

Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma proclaimed that Aminul Islam, MLA from Dhing, has been detained in provisional arrest under Section 3(2) of the National Security Act of 1980.

The measure follows a report presented by the Nagaon Superintendent of Police regarding Islam's recent public statements.

As per reports, Aminul Islam allegedly delivered a provocative and inflammatory speech during a Panchayat election campaign, which was followed by the release of a video in which he makes unsubstantiated assertions linking the Pahalgam terror incident to a government conspiracy.

The Nagaon District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner followed the advice provided by the NSA to hold the MLA in order to preserve public order.

According to Chief Minister Sarma, such attempts to create communal hatred and undermine national security will not be permitted, and those attempting to destabilise peace and harmony in the state will face severe legal consequences.
