Advantage Assam 2.0: Mukesh Ambani announces construction of luxurious '7-star Oberoi hotel' in Assam
Digital Desk: At the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment & Infrastructure Summit in Guwahati on Tuesday, tech giant Reliance chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani announced the company's ambitions to construct a seven-star Oberoi hotel in the center of Assam.
Ambani said the move intends to enhance Assam's high-end hotel and hospitality business, but he didn't provide many details.
Ambani stated during the Assam investment conference that Reliance had pledged to invest ₹5,000 crore in Assam in 2018. "We have invested more than ₹12,000 crore in the state since then. In the next five years, Reliance plans to more than treble its investment in Assam to over Rs 50,000 crore in the five priority areas listed below," he stated.
According to Ambani, the company aims to make Assam a significant provider of consumer goods, both food and non-food, to both domestic and foreign markets. "A Mega Food Park will be established, adding value to Assam's plentiful horticulture and agricultural products. For our Independence and Campa Cola brands of packaged drinking water, we have already established a top-notch bottling facility in Assam," he stated.
Ambani highlighted Assam's rich arts and crafts heritage, including its largest bamboo producer, "Green Gold." The silk industry's center in "Sualkuchi" has potential for income generation and job growth.
Reliance Foundation and 'Swadesh' stores aim to collaborate with the state government to promote this heritage, highlighting the potential for income generation and job creation.
