Arambai Tenggol demands NRC implementation in Manipur

Digital Desk: The Arambai Tenggol – a valley-based Meitei organisation – has reiterated its demand for implementation of the National Register of Citizens or NRC in Manipur to identify and deport illegal immigrants.

Arambai Tenggol made this appeal while endorsing the recent remarks of Tamil Nadu governor RN Ravi, who warned that the unchecked influx of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and Myanmar posed a grave threat to India’s security and integrity.

The Tamil Nadu governor had reportedly cautioned that the issue went far beyond people seeking livelihoods.

He described the issue as a “strategic move” designed to destabilize the country and even attempt another partition.

Arambai Tenggol echoed this concern, asserting that the ongoing Manipur crisis was a direct fallout of such infiltration.

According to Arambai Tenggol, illegal settlers have been encroaching upon reserved forest areas, engaging in poppy cultivation and aiding narco-terrorists demanding a separate state of Zalen-gam.

The group emphasized that these developments endangered not just Manipur’s demographic balance but also the sovereignty of the nation.

It further pressed for stronger border fencing and tighter security measures to plug loopholes along the porous frontiers.

The organisation stated that RN Ravi’s warning should serve as a wake-up call for both the government and the public.

It stressed that urgent action was needed to prevent further disintegration.

The group appealed for unity in safeguarding the nation’s integrity, saying Manipur’s security was inseparable from that of India as a whole.
