Arunachal DY CM presents state budget for 2025-26

 

Digital Desk: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein presented the state’s budget for 2025-26 in the state assembly on Monday.

The Arunachal Pradesh budget for 2025–26 focuses on key investments in infrastructure, urban mobility, education, healthcare and economic growth.

According to Arunachal Pradesh deputy chief minister Chowna Mein, the budget is anchored on four pillars: Investing in People, Infrastructure, Economy and Innovation.

With a budget allocation of Rs 296 crore for transport and urban development, the Arunachal Pradesh government aims to enhance connectivity and ensure safer and more efficient travel.

The initiative focuses on building smarter, well-planned cities with improved infrastructure and business-friendly environments.

In a significant push towards making Arunachal Pradesh the hydropower powerhouse of India, the budget earmarks Rs 1.7 lakh crore for 14 hydropower projects with a combined capacity of 18,000 MW over the next three years.

Additionally, Rs 100 crore has been allocated to fast-track hydropower development in 2025–26.

The budget also outlines a roadmap for seamless connectivity, ensuring that both remote villages and urban centers are well linked.

The initiatives are expected to drive economic growth, create job opportunities, and enhance accessibility across the state.

To empower women and safeguard children, Rs 392 crore has been allocated to strengthen welfare initiatives aimed at creating a more inclusive and secure future for women and children in the state.

With a Rs 3000 crore allocation from central and state resources, the budget focuses on enhancing school infrastructure, improving teaching standards and expanding educational opportunities to ensure a strong foundation for Arunachal’s future generations.

The Arunachal Pradesh government has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive growth by allocating Rs 435 crore under the Antyodaya initiative, aimed at uplifting the most vulnerable sections of society and ensuring their welfare.

Furthermore, a dedicated Rs 60 crore has been allocated for the preservation and promotion of Arunachal Pradesh’s indigenous traditions, art and cultural heritage.

The budget includes funds for cultural restoration, historical preservation and grand celebrations of folk arts.
With Rs 119 crore earmarked for youth and sports development, the budget introduces transformative initiatives to provide better training facilities, world-class sports infrastructure and global exposure for young athletes.

The Arunachal Pradesh government has announced a major overhaul of the state’s healthcare sector in Budget 2025.

Plans include doubling MBBS seats at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences and working towards establishing a new medical college.

Declaring 2025 the “Year of Human Capital,” the budget focuses on empowering people, strengthening the economy and fostering innovation to build a prosperous Arunachal Pradesh.
Moreover, smart meters will also be introduced in Arunachal Pradesh.

Rs 182 crore has been allocated for the installation of smart meters across Arunachal Pradesh.
