Arunachal tightens ILP enforcement, resulting in market suspension at West Kameng
Digital Desk: In a big move, the Arunachal Pradesh Government has directed the immediate suspension of all weekly markets inside the West Kameng District's administrative boundaries to expedite the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system.
The decision follows a high-level meeting presided over by the Hon. Minister of Home for the Government of Arunachal Pradesh on April 30, 2025.
All current licenses and permits given to people, businesses, and organizations to run local weekly markets have been immediately terminated following the official decision.
Moreover, until further notice, authorities have been instructed to make sure that no weekly market activities occur in any colony, sector, or locality that is within the district's control.
The directive additionally cautions that any infringement of the order would result in severe administrative and judicial consequences under applicable legislation.
Ensuring the efficient and unwavering execution of the directive in both letter and spirit has been assigned to the Superintendent of Police, West Kameng District, Bomdila.
The ruling is a part of a larger plan to strengthen the foundation for implementing the ILP system, which controls non-residents' access to the state and guarantees demographic and cultural protections.
