Assam: First fatal case of suspected Guillain-Barré Syndrome reported in Guwahati

 


Digital desk: Assam has reported its first fatal case of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), a rare neurological disorder. 17-year-old Afia Zeenat, a resident of Patharquarry in Guwahati, died at Pratiksha Hospital after her condition deteriorated. 

The girl was placed on ventilator support as her condition worsened. Despite efforts, she died from a severe form of GBS, according to reports.

GBS, triggered by infections, can cause muscle weakness and paralysis. Health officials are closely monitoring the situation and urging the public to seek immediate medical attention if GBS symptoms appear.

The death has sparked concern about the rare neurological disorder.
