Assam: APDCL proposes an electricity tariff hike by ₹1 per unit in coming year
Digital Desk: The Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) has recommended raising electricity tariffs, undermining the state government's promise to lower tariffs by ₹1 per unit in the next fiscal year.
The request was presented to the Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission (AERC), which conducted a public hearing today.
Ten groups provided feedback on the proposed modification.
The AERC chairman stated that all opinions gathered will be used to decide on electricity pricing for fiscal year 2025-2026, which will be announced during the final week of the current fiscal year.
Although APDCL has stated a preference for retaining the current pricing, it has also proposed increases in several categories.
The chairman of the AERC indicated that power prices for low-income households and those participating in the Jeevan Dhara initiative would be reduced by one unit. Technological distribution through the suggested adjustments has begun to generate conversation among consumers across the state.
