Assam: ASSEB announces inclusion of AI, Sign Language, Financial Literacy as electives for HS students

 

Digital Desk: Major development added in the education system for the Higher Secondary (HS) students beginning this academic year, the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) has announced the addition of three new elective subjects: financial literacy, sign language, and artificial intelligence.

Dr. Ranoj Pegu, the minister of education, made the statement on Wednesday at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati during the opening of a three-day residential AI training program for teachers. Along with the Director of IIT Guwahati, the ASSEB Chairman and Vice Chairman attended the event.

Dr. Pegu, during the inauguration, presented a specially curated AI textbook created in collaboration with specialists from IIT Guwahati and Dibrugarh University.

Pegu, with this step, initiated an effort, making it a crucial step towards educating students for the changing demands of a digital economy, as well as training them with key life abilities and promoting diversity.
