Assam: CM Sarma claims Dilwar Hussain's brother an "Established land broker"

Digital Desk: On April 1, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma mounted a severe attack on journalist Dilwar Hussain, who was just released from jail in connection with the Apex Bank incident.

The Chief Minister accused Hussain's family of extensive involvement in land brokerage and questioned his journalistic credibility.

Speaking on the matter, CM Sarma said, "Dilwar Hussain's brother is a well-known land broker. He was arrested in 2021, and charges were brought against him.

Despite the charges, he was able to obtain a teaching position at a school, and the government did not suspend him. This demonstrates how deeply established they are, operating behind the government's radar."

Further escalating his statements, the Chief Minister claimed that Dilwar Hussain does not follow journalistic ideals and warned that a visit to his home in Hojai will disclose the magnitude of his family's reputation in the land brokerage industry.

Earlier, on March 31, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated to the press about Dilwar Hussain and Mahbubul Haque that the Apex Bank is a state institution that does not operate at the behest of any individual.

Earlier, during an event, CM Sarma emphasized that the BJP was created to counter individuals like Dilwar Hussain and pledged to take legal action.

The Chief Minister also stated that certain people in Assam believe anything Dilwar Hussain says, even when facts reveal otherwise. He reaffirmed the BJP's commitment to eliminating individuals such as Dilwar Hussain, emphasizing the party's stance on governance and responsibility.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who had previously argued that Mazumdar was not a "recognized" reporter under government standards, stated that he has no problem with any scribe writing against him, but that if a journalist engages in other activities, the law is equal for all."
