Assam: Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, accused of killing singer Sidhu Moose Wala, transferred to Silchar Jail
Digital Desk: Jagdeep Singh, aka Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, a gangster and drug lord suspected of killing Punjabi musician Sidhu Moose Wala, has been transferred from Bathinda jail to the Silchar Central Jail in Assam.
On Sunday, Jaggu was held by the Narcotics Control Bureau under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and sent to the Silchar Central Jail in Assam from Punjab.
According to sources, on March 22, a joint team of the NCB and Punjab police escorted Bhagwanpuria from Bathinda to Chandigarh under tight protection.
He was flown to Assam from Delhi and Kolkata.
He was detained in Bathinda Central Jail and has 128 FIRs filed against him in Punjab and other states.
Since his arrest in a 2015 murder case, the gangster has been detained in several of the state's jails.
His transfer was overseen by a four-member NCB team.
Singh was transferred in accordance with a direction issued by the joint secretary of PIT-NDPS on March 21.
The NCB immediately transferred him from Bathinda to the Silchar Central Jail in Assam.
Growing worries about gang activity within Punjabi prisons have prompted the action.
According to reports, Jaggu Bhagwanpuria works with Pakistani suppliers as well as international networks in Canada and the United States.
According to sources, the PIT-NDPS case was filed against Bhagwanpuria after a thorough investigation that produced proof of his alleged ability to manage his business and plan violent, drug-trafficking, and extortion crimes from behind bars.
