Assam: Kamrup Metro declares a local holiday for Holi on March 15
Digital Desk: The Assam government has declared a local holiday on March 15, 2025 (Saturday) within the jurisdiction of the Kamrup (Metro) district in honor of the Dol Jatra (Holi) festival.
According to the official notification, all state government offices and educational institutions inside Kamrup Metro will be closed on March 15.
Holi, also known as the holiday of Colors, is a major Hindu festive enjoyed all over India and beyond. Holi signifies the beginning of the spring season.
Holi fest begins with Holika Dahan (bonfire) on the night before Holi, which represents the burning away of negativity. The following day, people celebrate by spreading colors, playing with water, and exchanging candy.
Holi promotes unity and joy, bringing people together in an atmosphere of love and celebration.
