Assam: Launch in consideration for Rs 350 Cr satellite network for 24x7 alert: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma
Digital Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has stated that 4 to 5 satellites will soon hover over the state's skies, providing real-time data for a variety of essential sectors.
In response to discussions in the Assembly about the Assam Budget 2025, Chief Minister Sarma stated that each satellite will cost around Rs 60-70 crore and will aid in real-time flood and disaster monitoring, illegal migration and drug trafficking surveillance, wildlife tracking in national parks, and agriculture and road network improvement
He also stated that the Assam government is in advanced talks with IN-SPACe (Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center) about the satellite constellation project, which represents a big step toward technological self-reliance in governance and crisis management.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has unveiled a goal-oriented Assam Budget 2024 that prioritizes economic growth, technical improvements, and sustainability.
He dismisses the concept of an election-driven budget and promises to empower the poor and middle class. Sarma also announced the launch of an Assam-specific satellite, in collaboration with ISRO, to enhance flood prediction, border control, and agriculture sector support.
