Assam: Shelter home for Transgender Community to be established In Guwahati
Digital Desk: The Assam government has announced the development of a shelter home for the transgender population in Guwahati as part of the Assam budget 2025. This effort seeks to provide a safe environment, assistance, and rehabilitation chances, confirming the state's commitment to social welfare and empowerment.
This was announced by Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Neog on March 10 during the Assam Budget 2025.
Furthermore, the government has provided grants-in-aid to the Kamatapur, Moran, and Mottak Autonomous Councils to improve administrative capacity and socioeconomic progress.
The ₹417 crore project includes financial incentives for meritorious OBC and SC students, skill training for people with disabilities (Divyangjan), and increased Braille education.
