10 Assam Association Singapore members to be re-summoned by CID following ZG death probe

Digital Desk: The Assam Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will issue new summons to ten individuals associated with the Assam Association Singapore after they failed to appear before investigators within the time frame specified, officials said on Wednesday.

CID Special DGP Munna Prasad Gupta stated that 11 NRIs from Assam had received notices, but only one, Rupkamal Kalita, had so far recorded his statement. "We will issue new summonses to all of them who have not yet arrived. We will proceed in accordance with the legal procedures," Gupta said.

Garima Saikia Garg, Garg's wife, had earlier lamented what she called a "lack of cooperation" from those connected to the Assam Association Singapore, asking why those who were there at the time of the tragedy had not come forward to help with the investigation.

The new summons comes after no one showed up for the SIT by the deadline.

Earlier, the state CID had sent notices to a number of Assam Association, Singapore, members, asking them to come before it by October 6.

Then, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma asked Assamese citizens to exert pressure on the relatives of the suspects to make sure their protégé assist the investigators.
