Assam BTC Elections 2025: Vote counting underway across 40 constituencies

Digital Desk: The counting of votes for the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections began this morning at 8 a.m., with the outcome expected to determine the final fate of 316 candidates running in 40 constituencies.

The election campaign is distributed across five districts. Kokrajhar has the highest number of candidates, with 100 running in 12 constituencies. Udalguri has 68 candidates in ten seats.

Chirang has 56 candidates running in 7 constituencies, Baksa has 52 in 6 constituencies, and Tamulpur has 40 in 5 constituencies.

A strong room has been set up in Kokrajhar Sadar to tally votes from six seats, which include 100 candidates.

Security personnel are heavily deployed to maintain peace during the counting, which is deemed essential for the governance of the Bodoland Territorial Region, as the results will determine its political direction.
