Assam Budget 2025-26 passed in State Assembly
Digital Desk: The Assam Legislative Assembly passed the Assam Budget 2025-26, a crucial step in the state's fiscal planning for the coming fiscal year.
Finance Minister Ajanta Neog delivered the budget, which details the state's revenue and expenditure predictions, as well as its development targets.
In addition to the budget, the assembly passed several key bills, including the Cattle Prevention Amendment Bill, which aimed to strengthen cattle protection and smuggling laws, and the Private Universities Amendment Bill, which seeks to amend existing state laws governing private universities.
The assembly has also approved eight university amendment bills.
These laws attempt to restructure the state's university system by enhancing governance, academic standards, and infrastructure.
