Assam CM Sarma proudly shows state-encased semiconductor chips at Semicon India 2025

Digital Desk: At Semicon India 2025, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the debut of the first "Made in India" semiconductor chips, pointing out that two of them are proudly Assamese.

The Tata OSAT Chip and the NIT Silchar-developed Neural Amplifier Frontend IC are among the chips on display.

Sarma highlighted Assam's contribution to India's expanding semiconductor ecosystem in a social media post, saying the state is continuously advancing the country's technological advancement and chip manufacturing.

The occasion is a major turning point for Assam, demonstrating the state's growing emphasis on high-tech sectors and innovation in line with India's drive for semiconductor independence.

PM Modi stated on Tuesday that the government is developing the next stage of the India Semiconductor Mission and Design-Linked Incentive Scheme.

In his opening remarks for Semicon India 2025, Modi stated that critical minerals form the foundation of digital infrastructure, that the nation has begun work on the Critical Minerals Mission, and that it is dedicated to supplying the rising demand for rare earth minerals.

To his statement, PM Modi added, "The smallest chip made in India will drive the biggest change in the world in the days to come."
