Assam Government announces Chinmoy Prakash Phookan as New GMC Commissioner

Digital Desk: As part of a new round of administrative reshuffles announced by the Assam government, Chinmoy Prakash Phookan, ACS, has assumed leadership as the new Commissioner of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC).

The directive issued on Saturday states that Phookan, who was working as the Transport Department's Joint Secretary and also held the position of Managing Director of ASTC, has been moved to the Department of Housing & Urban Affairs. He has been permitted to remain the MD of ASTC until further directives, in addition to his new position as GMC Commissioner.

According to the same announcement, GMC Commissioner Dr. M.S. Lakshmi Priya has been moved and appointed Secretary to the Government of Assam in the Department of Skills, Employment, and Entrepreneurship.

In addition, she will be the Managing Director of the Assam Skill Development Mission and the Registrar of Assam Skill University.

Meanwhile, Md. Hanif Noorani, ACS, who had been serving as Additional Secretary in the Skill, Employment, and Entrepreneurship Department, as well as MD of the Assam Skill Development Mission and Registrar of Assam Skill University, has been relieved of his duties.
