Assam Set to Table Historic Bills Targeting Love Jihad and Polygamy in Upcoming Assembly Session
Digital Desk: This year, the Assam Legislative Assembly will see the introduction of a number of historic bills, according to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Speaking to the media, he stated, "This year, the Assembly will see the introduction of historic bills related to polygamy, Love Jihad, and the protection of the State's Vaishnavite Satras." The House will debate these ideas, and we'll let the media know when the bills are passed.
Himanta Biswa Sarma said earlier this August that the state's future is "not secure" because of the deteriorating Hindu-Muslim population balance.
Sarma stated that because they are a minority in 12–13 districts, indigenous people have become defensive during the Independence Day celebrations.
"The future of Assam is uncertain due to a rapid decline in the Hindu-Muslim population balance. In 2021, the Muslim population increased to 41%, while the Hindu population decreased to 57%. The remaining lands are shared by Christians and other communities, indicating a potential security issue, " added CM to his statement.
