Assam actress Nandini Kashyap seeps into deep trouble after youth dies in alleged hit-and-run case

Digital Desk: Samiul Haque, 23, who was seriously hurt in a reported hit-and-run involving Assamese actress Nandini Kashyap, passed away at Apollo Hospitals on Tuesday.

Just hours before the July 25 accident, Samiul, a final-year engineering student, had started working as a temporary employee for the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC).

He was brought to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) initially, but as his health worsened, he was moved to Apollo. Before dying, he spent a few days on life support

Samiul's association with the GMC was confirmed by Guwahati Mayor Mrigen Sarania, who also said that if his employment status was determined to be permanent, compensation could be taken into consideration.

Nandini Kashyap, an actress who was reportedly engaged in the incident, went through an inquiry process at Dispur Police Station for about eight hours on Monday.

Nandini is allegedly charged with murder, stating she did not flee the scene and learnt of the victim's critical condition later.

Nandini later visited the family and offered financial assistance for his treatment, and the police confirmed that the car involved had been impounded.

However, the deceased's family believes that because of the accused's famous status, the investigation is not being pursued with urgency. "We only want justice. "Her status should not shield her from the law," remarked a distraught family member.

As criticism mounts and social media demands accountability, the focus shifts to the Assam Police's transparency in handling the issue.
