Assam grapples with widespread power outages
Digital Desk: A severe storm and heavy rainfall swept through Assam, causing widespread power outages across various parts of the state, including Guwahati. The sudden weather disruption severely impacted both residential and commercial activities, with several localities experiencing electricity cuts for over four hours.
The storm brought high-velocity winds, sheets of rain, and hailstones, causing significant disruptions to daily life. Waterlogging was reported in low-lying areas, such as Anil Nagar, Nabin Nagar, and RG Baruah Road, with knee-deep water disrupting vehicles and forcing pedestrians to wade through murky streets. Traffic came to a standstill in many areas, with fallen trees and electric poles blocking roads.
