Assam's Sattriya dance maestro Jatin Goswami awarded with Padma Bhushan
Digital Desk: Big moment for Assam, Sattriya dance maestro Jatin Goswami's name was announced for the Padma Bhushan award.
Goswami, a former Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee, was trained in the classical Sattriya dance form, which is essential to the state's Viashnavite culture.
He has also studied folk dance and 'Ankia Naat', a classic one-act play written by Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Sankardeva.
Goswami (92-year-old) traveled extensively and performed 'Ankia Naat', Sattriya, and other ancient dance forms throughout the country and overseas.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated, "On behalf of the people of Assam, I congratulate Shri Jatin Goswami Dangariya on receiving the Padma Bhushan."
