BTC Election vote counting- Hagrama Mohilary of BPF party leads in Debargaon

Digital Desk: In the first round of vote counting for the fifth Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections, Hagrama Mohilary, a candidate for the Bodoland People's Front (BPF), has jumped ahead in Kokrajhar's Debargaon constituency.

With 2,779 votes, Mohilary has a 659-vote lead over his closest opponent, Kampa Borgoyary of the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL), who has 2,120 votes.

Pramod Boro, the current BTC chief of the UPPL, faces tough strife from the BJP, BPF, Congress, and other local parties.

Moreover, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma is actively campaigning for the BJP, following a motto like land rights, constitutional protections, and programs for women, students, and tribal communities in the BTR.

Five of the 40 council seats are unreserved, five are designated for non-STs, and thirty are set aside for Scheduled Tribes. 26.58 lakh people cast ballots at 3,279 polling places during the elections.
