Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival was postponed to 2026 following death of Zubeen Garg

Digital Desk: First planned for December 4–7, 2025, the Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival (BVFF) has been rescheduled for 2026. As Assam grieves the loss of legendary singer and cultural icon Zubeen Garg, who passed away in September, the decision was taken.

In announcing the postponement, the organizers emphasized the importance of Garg's contributions to Assamese art and culture. All submissions will be eligible for refunds from the festival, which is a major event on the creative calendar in the area.

After Zubeen's death, Assam experienced an overarching feeling of loss, which can be seen in the decision to postpone the festival.

Following the extension of the festival to 2026, the organizers are now more focused on preserving Garg's legacy and assisting the creative community.

As the legal steps proceed, the investigation into his death is still ongoing. In the months to come, there will likely be updates on the new festival dates and next steps in the case.
