CID custody of Shyamkanu, Siddharth ends today; to be produced before court

Digital Desk: Today marks the end of Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddharth Sharma's 14-day CID custody.

Although Assam Police have voiced concerns about where to hold them if judicial custody is granted, both are anticipated to be produced before the CJM.

Their safety is a particular concern for the authorities, who wonder if they would be taken to a jail in Assam or somewhere else.

Although the SIT is probably going to ask for an extension of custody, it is still unclear if the court will grant the request.

It is anticipated that the two accused will appear in court tomorrow morning.

Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddharth Sharma were arrested under Sections 106(1), 105, 61(2), and 103 of the BNS.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the death of legendary singer Zubeen Garg continues to intensify, with the SIT focusing on key figures linked to a yacht party associated with the case.

According to reports, Tanmoy Phukan had reportedly booked the yacht, while Abhimanyu Talukdar, president of the Assam Association in Singapore, was closely involved in organizing the event.

Today, both Tanmoy Phukan and Abhimanyu Talukdar appeared before the CID office to cooperate with the investigation.

So far, seven Assamese NRIs have provided statements to the SIT.
