Celebrating 79th Independence Day; PM Modi hoists national flag at Red Fort
Digital Desk: Indians worldwide and nationwide are celebrating the 79th edition of India’s Independence Day today. Collective hearts swelled with pride reflecting back on the legacy of the nation’s rich heritage, which serves as a throwback and a reminder of the numerous sacrifices made while freeing the Motherland from British Colonial rule. Meanwhile, the centre on Wednesday announced ‘Naya Bharat’ as the theme for the upcoming 79th Independence Day celebrations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag at the historic symbol of freedom and resistance, which is the Red Fort, and addressed the nation from the ramparts today.

This year, over 5,000 special guests from all backgrounds have been invited to attend the festivities at the Red Fort. For the major ceremony, more than 1,500 people from different states and Union Territories have been invited.
