Celebrating the Rich History of Himachal Pradesh on its Statehood Day 2025

Digital Desk: Himachal Pradesh celebrates Statehood Day on January 25th each year, marking the day it became the 18th state of the Indian Union in 1971.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister of India acknowledges to the people of Himachal Pradesh, recognizing their distinct cultural and historical heritage.

Moving ahead, Himachal Pradesh's historical prominence during the British rule is inextricably linked to the colonial period. Following Queen Victoria's Proclamation of 1858, the British holdings in the hills came under British control. Several regions, notably Chamba, Mandi, and Bilaspur, saw growth in a variety of fields under British rule.

The significance of Himachal Pradesh Statehood Day is to honor the state's rich history, culture, and achievements while also supporting economic growth by offering access to resources and development opportunities.

The state retains its historic and ecological legacy while also becoming a leader in tourism, education, and hydropower generation, serving as a development model.
