Dima Hasao CEM demands action over death of an Assam civil services aspirant in Uttarakhand
Digital Desk: Authorities in Uttarakhand announced Monday that the body of a 25-year-old civil services candidate from the Dima Hasao district of Assam, who had been missing since June 6, had been discovered in the Pauri Garhwal area.
According to sources, Rosmita Hojai, a resident of Sontilla Hojai village, traveled to Delhi from Assam to take an exam administered by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB).
Rosmita reportedly traveled to Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, with two male acquaintances after finishing the exam. One of them was recognized as Hemant Sharma, a former Haryana classmate.
On June 6, Rosmita disappeared when the three of them were planning a camping trip in the Shivpuri neighborhood of Rishikesh. A local citizen saw a woman drown close to the campsite, and her companions said that she was near the Ganga River.
The Uttarakhand Police and SDRF conducted initial search efforts, however no rapid recovery was achieved.
Although there was no concrete evidence to back the claim, authorities also started looking into the possibility of suicide.
After losing touch with her family, Assamese student Rosmita Hojai passed away in Uttarakhand. According to her mother, Solmodi Hojai, she went to Delhi by herself for her test without telling anyone.
On social media, Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa verified Rosmita's passing and called for swift legal action against the two people who were with her.
Gorlosa called for tough action against those responsible for the event and thanked the Uttarakhand Police and Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for their support.
Police have not made any arrests yet, but an investigation into Rosmita's disappearance and death is underway.
