EC biased, says AAP; FIR registered against Atishi for poll code violation
Digital Desk: Delhi Police on Tuesday filed a first information report(FIR) against Chief Minister Atishi for allegedly breaking the Model Code of Conduct and impeding public personnel on duty, the report was cited as per PTI's statement.
The Model Code of Conduct has been in effect in the capital since January 7, prior to Assembly elections. Delhi polls will take place on Wednesday, and the results will be announced on Saturday.
Aam Aadmi Party candidate Atishi, contesting from Kalkaji, was seen with 50-70 followers and ten vehicles on Fateh Singh Marg in the capital, violating the poll code, according to a police post on X.
Atishi responded to the case by accusing the poll panel of prejudice and bringing claims against the son of Ramesh Bidhuri, the Bharatiya Janata Party's Kalkaji candidate.
"The Election Commission is also amazing," she added, "Ramesh Bidhuriji's family members have blatantly violated the code of conduct. There is no action being taken against them. I filed a complaint and contacted the police and [the Election Commission], and they brought charges against me!"
"How much will you ruin the electoral process?" Atishi questioned Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.
According to ANI, the Delhi Police has filed a case against Manish Bidhuri in response to her complaint.
However, on Tuesday, the Election Commission denied claims of bias, citing "repeated deliberate pressure tactics to malign the organization." The survey panel stated that "such insinuations" would have no bearing on its decision.
