Digital Desk: Massive hunt operations successful on Saturday, January 25 by Assam Police, recovering five hand grenades and three detonators during a search operation near Khwbra village in Batashipur, within the jurisdiction of Dhekiajuli Police Station, based on intelligence reports.
Notably, during the early morning ops in Assam's Sonitpur district, authorities discovered the stockpile while scooping up the spot. The explosive cache was found hidden underground in the bush near Khwbra village, clad in a plastic bag.
While recovering all the stockpile, one of the hand grenades had a faulty pin/lever. The area was quickly guarded for safety, and the Army's bomb disposal squad was notified to dispose of the injured grenade.
Ahead of Republic Day celebrations, the operation was an extension of Assam's increased security measures due to the sharp rise in such incidents.
