Fitch Group rating names Assam among top 3 states powering India’s economic recovery
Digital Desk: Assam has been named as one of the top three states driving India's post-COVID economic recovery, according to a recent research by India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra), a Fitch Group subsidiary.
The statistics highlight the state's strong and continuous economic performance over the past five years.
According to the data, Assam's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has grown by an average of 7% at constant prices since the pandemic began. This consistent pace has positioned the state as an important contributor to the national economic recovery.
Notably, Assam's GSDP has nearly doubled during the course of five years of consistent growth.
The state has received Rs 200 crore in foreign direct investment (FDI), as well as significant local capital infusion.
Analysts predict that Assam's GSDP might reach ₹10 lakh crore in the next five years if current growth rates persist.
The research, while hopeful, warns that future growth is dependent on policy consistency, stable government, and a favorable investment climate.
Economic experts underline the importance of long-term strategic planning and infrastructure development in order to preserve the current upward trajectory.
