Gauhati HC to deliver verdict in USTM Chancellor case on March 3
Digital Desk: On Monday (March 3), the Gauhati High Court will rule on the matter involving Mahbubul Hoque, the Chancellor of the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM).
According to sources, the court had an extensive hearing on Hoque's bail petition on Friday. Following lengthy hearings, the court announced that the case would be settled on Monday.
Hoque's legal battle is ongoing as he seeks bail after being arrested in two different cases.
Hoque was transported to Dispur Police Station yesterday for additional investigation after being apprehended by Sribhumi Police on February 21. According to sources, the USTM Chancellor was transported from the Dispur Police Station to his home in Ghoramara following a lengthy interrogation.
Mahbubul Hoque was taken into custody on charges of arranging student promotions in return for money. His arrest followed a report filed by a Circle Officer in Patharkandi, Assam, revealing an alleged racket in the education sector.
