Guwahati: A Massive Fire broke out at Cyber Mart in Fancy Bazar; 1 Dead, 3 in severe condition

Digital Desk: Guwahati’s Fancy Bazaar at 3 am this morning woke to a fire setting high at Cyber mart. The massive fire at Cyber Mart resulted in at least one death and several injuries.

Four individuals who were trapped inside the building were reportedly saved in critical condition and taken to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

Salman Qureshi, 32, was one of the individuals identified as having died from suffocation brought on by the thick smoke that pervaded the complex rather than burns.

Three more people—Tasib (24), Saharim (22), and Arif (22)—are receiving treatment; two of them are in extremely critical condition.

Large crowds gathered near the site, prompting the deployment of police and paramilitary personnel to preserve order. In a sensitive move, cops also removed a photograph honoring late musician Zubeen Garg that had been maintained on the premises.

Although firefighters forced almost a dozen fire engines into action, the fire, which is thought to have been started by a short circuit, is still mostly out of control.
