Digital Desk: The Indian Air Force (IAF) will stage a major flying display above the Brahmaputra at Lachit Ghat in Guwahati today (November 9), commemorating the Force's 93rd anniversary.
According to the Defence Public Relations Office in Guwahati, the air demonstration will take place on November 8 and 9 between 1100 and 1400 hrs. The roster will feature a variety of IAF platforms, including the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, Rafale, and Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT).
The flypast is likely to be a historic occasion, with approximately 60 aircraft, including Sukhoi, Rafale, Mirage, and Apache helicopters, flying in formations named after Northeast locations such as Lachit, Kaziranga, Manas, Elephant, and Barak.
The event will be attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Seven key air bases in Assam and West Bengal, including Guwahati, Tezpur, Hasimara, and Bagdogra, have been placed on operational alert.
The IAF flying display in Guwahati is anticipated to attract large crowds and inspire young people. Additional information on viewing arrangements and traffic advisories has been released via the IAF's official social media handles and local media outlets.
