Guwahati: ACS officer Nupur Bora arrested; Rs 1.70 Cr cash seized from her residence

 

Digital Desk: ACS officer Nupur Bora is arrested by the Chief Minister's Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Cell.

In relation to a case involving disproportionate assets, the chief minister's Vigilance and Anti-Corruption team conducted a significant raid at the home of Nupur Bora, an Assam Civil Service officer and revenue circle officer, on Monday.

The investigation started early in the morning when investigators searched Bora's home in Guwahati's Gotanagar neighbourhood.

A startling amount of Rs 1.70 crore in cash was found by officials during the raid on Bora's flat in Goraimari, in the Gotanagar neighbourhood of Guwahati.

According to sources, as part of the ongoing probe, the Vigilance team is also getting ready to expand the operation to the home of one of Bora's close associates.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the recovery of a large sum of unaccounted money and valuables from the residence of Nupur Bora, an Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer currently serving as the Circle Officer of Goroimari.

Speaking to the media in response to questions about alleged corruption, CM Sarma revealed that crores of rupees were seized during the raid. “Cash amounting to nearly Rs 70–80 lakh and a significant quantity of gold jewellery have been recovered from the house of Nupur Bora,” the Chief Minister stated.
