Guwahati LGBI Airport's new terminal inaugurated by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Digital Desk: Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam, inaugurated an upgrade project at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport to improve passenger experience and travel efficiency.

The renovation and modernization project incorporates several major upgrades.

Front Platform: Increased from 270 to 1000 square meters, including 900 square meters of extra pathways for improved pedestrian traffic.

Enhanced Traffic Flow: To decrease congestion, entry lanes were raised from 8 to 14, while departure lanes were increased from 3 to 4. Additionally, four new DigiYatra gates have been built to allow for speedier check-ins.

Improved Security Check-In: The security screening space has been expanded from 300 square meters to 450 square meters, with additional screening queues and refurbished furniture for greater efficiency.

Aesthetic enhancements include a 140-meter architectural wall and 300 square meters of additional gardens, which improve the airport's visual appeal.

Improved Passenger Amenities: The airport now has better retail, restaurant, and recreational facilities, resulting in a more comfortable and enjoyable travel experience.

The upgrade at Assam's main airport seeks to support increased passenger traffic while adhering to the most recent aviation standards, providing travelers with a seamless and modern airport experience.
