Guwahati to get five new footbridges by November, says Assam CM

Digital Desk: On Wednesday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that five new foot overbridges would be built along Guwahati's busy Khanapara–Jalukbari stretch to provide pedestrians with a safe way to cross the road.

The move is intended to lessen collisions and enhance traffic control on one of the busiest thoroughfares in the city.

Following the Chief Minister's review of ongoing city infrastructure projects, the announcement was made.

Notably, CM Sarma visited the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport's under-construction international terminal earlier in the day with a delegation from Bhutan.

Sarma added that he intends to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the new terminal's inauguration. The terminal is being built to greatly increase Northeastern passenger capacity and international connectivity.
