Haridwar stampede: 6 Dead, several Injured en route to Mansa Devi Temple
Digital Desk: Six people died, and several others were injured in a stampede at the Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. The surge happened on the stairs along the temple path leading to the main sanctuary.
Vinay Shankar Pandey, the Commissioner of Garhwal Division, confirmed the deaths and mentioned that a large crowd was present at the temple when the stampede occurred.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) of the Uttarakhand Police and local law enforcement agencies are assisting in the rescue efforts.
The incident took place during the holy month of Sawan, when a rush of worshippers typically gathers at every pilgrimage site in the city.
Videos showed wounded worshippers being taken in ambulances to the hospital, while numerous others were being treated.
The Chief Minister stated that he is carefully monitoring the situation and in contact with local officials.
