Harmanpreet Kaur to lead India Women's ODI World Cup Team 2025 as BCCI announces 15-member roster

Digital Desk: The Women's ODI team for the 50-overs World Cup was released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), representing Harmanpreet Kaur as India's captain and opener Smriti Mandhana as Vice-Captain, as India's campaign begins on September 30 against Sri Lanka.

On the other hand, opener Shafali Verma was left off the World Cup roster and the Australia ODI series squad.

The location of the tournament's opening, however, has not yet been determined after a commission appointed by the Karnataka government declared Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium unfit to hold major gatherings due to devastating stampedes that occurred there after Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL 2025 victory parade and festivities.

In their most recent series away from home, Harmanpreet's team defeated England 2-1 while destroying South Africa, New Zealand, the West Indies, and Ireland at home. India strengthened their 50-overs team by defeating South Africa and the hosts in the recent tri-series trophy, which was played in Sri Lanka. But during the upcoming ODI series against world champions Australia, which will take place in Mullanpur and Delhi from September 14 to 20, they will have their last round of practice sessions.
