Home At Last; Over 21 Lakh Families Get Roofs In Assam Under PMAY-G

Digital Desk: According to the Assam Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass, the state's Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-G has witnessed the completion of nearly 21 lakh houses and the construction of an additional 7 lakh more.

Speaking on the government's dedication to improving rural areas, Dass stated that a new survey will be carried out when the current building is finished determining whether the families are still residing in kachcha houses. He added that the state government has substantially decreased the role of middlemen by providing poorer communities with a variety of amenities, such as housing, clean water, electricity, and banking services.

The new list is said to be presented in the Gram Sabha for approval.

Dass claimed that thirty lakh women were chosen to get government assistance out of Assam's more than 40 lakh self-help group (SHG) members. "Each received Rs 10,000 in the first phase, followed by Rs 25,000, and then 50% contribution from banks." According to him, the work is anticipated to significantly push ₹30,000 crore into the state's economy and boost Assam's GDP.

For the people of Assam, it's not just about walls and roofs, it's about finally having a space they can proudly call home.
