India fires back after Pakistan infringes ceasefire along the LoC

Digital Desk: Pakistan infringes the ceasefire along the Line of Control in Kashmir again, opening unprovoked fire across from their posts on the intervening night of 25-26 April, according to authorities familiar with the situation.

Officials said Indian troops replied correctly with small guns, and no deaths were reported during the incident.

This is Pakistan's second violation of the ceasefire along the Line of Control, following the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, on April 22 that killed at least 26 people, most of whom were tourists.

Prior to this, Pakistani troops opened fire at various areas along the Line of Control on Thursday and Friday night, prompting reaction from the Indian Army.

This spate of ceasefire violations over two nights comes as tensions between India and Pakistan rise following the Pahalgam terror assault.

On Saturday, Indian authorities detained two terrorist associates in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam area, according to ANI, citing police sources.

They were reportedly apprehended at Thokerpora, Qaimoh, Kulgam.

India has responded to Pakistan's Pahalgam strike by suspending the 65-year-old Indus Waters Treaty, blocking the Attari border crossing, and expelling Pakistani military attachés.

In response to this action, Pakistan declared the suspension an 'act of war' and opened its airspace to Indian flights, sparking a retaliatory response.
