Digital Desk: Dr. Bibhuti Prasad Lahkar, a well-known conservationist from Assam, was honoured with the Mark Shand Award by Queen Camilla during a charity event hosted at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Kew.

The award acknowledges his substantial contributions to Asian elephant conservation, as well as his ongoing efforts to eliminate human-elephant conflict in Assam, particularly in Manas National Park.

The Elephant Family, a wildlife organisation created by Queen Camilla's late brother Mark Shand, hosted the "Wonders of the Wild: An Evening of Art and Conservation" award event.

The celebration was attended by King Charles, members of the royal family, and other worldwide celebrities.

Dr. Lahkar, who is affiliated with the NGO Aaranyak in Assam, was recognised for his conservation efforts at the grassroots level. In his praise of the honour, his colleague Bibhab Talukdar emphasised Lahkar's commitment and sincerity throughout his thirty years of service.

The late founder of Elephant Family, Mark Shand, left behind an enduring legacy that is honoured by the Mark Shand Award, which bears his name. It recognises people who share the late founder's commitment to animal conservation and vision.
