Lok Sabha passes Waqf (Amendment) Bill

Digital Desk: Following a 12-hour debate, the Lok Sabha passed the Waqf (Amendment) Bill in the early hours of Thursday, April 3, with 288 MPs voting in favor and 232 voting against.

The bill will now head to the Rajya Sabha for another eight-hour debate.

The ruling NDA defended the measure as beneficial to minorities during the hours-long discussion, while the opposition labeled it "anti-Muslim". The Bill was passed after all changes proposed by opposing members were rejected by voice vote.
