Mangaluru student makes nation proud, etches name in Golden Book of World Record with 170-hour Bharatanatyam performance

 

Digital Desk: Remona Evette Pereira, a St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) student in Mangaluru, has etched her name into the Golden Book of World Records with an unprecedented 170-hour Bharatanatyam performance.

The final-year BA student began the record-breaking journey on July 21, and completed it on July 28 to thunderous applause, tears of joy, and widespread admiration.

Pereira achieved a world record by performing the classical Indian dance form continuously for such an extended period of time.

Reportedly, Christopher D'Souza, Director of the Ranga Adhyayana Kendra at St Aloysius College, that Pereira took a 15-minute break every three hours during the marathon.

Pereira began professional Bharatanatyam training at the age of three, with renowned guru Shrividya Muralidhar as her teacher. Years of intense effort and commitment culminated in her Rangapravesha, or formal solo stage debut, in 2019, according to The Times of India.

Remona Evette Pereira's historic feat is not just a personal success, but also a tribute to Bharatanatyam's cultural depth and her everlasting commitment to the art form.
