Manipur violence: Protests sparked by arrest of Arambai Tenggol leader
Digital Desk: Roadblocks, altercations with police officers, and torch marches were all part of the protests that broke out in several districts of Imphal on Sunday night. The arrest of an Arambai Tenggol leader by the CBI served as the impetus for the protests.
Security forces used tear gas shells to disperse the crowds after clashing with demonstrators in a number of locations, including Wangkhei, Yairipok, and Khurai in the Imphal East district. In order to keep security personnel from getting to Sekmai and Koirengei in the Imphal West district, protesters dumped massive piles of dirt on the highways.
The Sub-Divisional Collector (SDC) Office at Yairipok Tulihal was partially burned by criminals, seriously damaging infrastructure and important documents. To find the people responsible for the arson, the police have opened an inquiry.
