Me-Dam-Me-Phi 2025: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma extends wishes to Tai Ahom community
Digital Desk: The Tai Ahom people commemorate the Me-Dam-Me-Phi festival on January 31st as a highly respected religious and cultural festivity.
Me-dam-me-phi is celebrated by the Ahom people on January 31 of each year, with traditional rites held to pay honor to ancestors and request blessings for the well-being of both the community and the nation.
On this occasion, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on x post, extended his wishes to the Tai Ahom Community. The post reads, "On Me-Dam-Me-Phi, I offer my prayers to our ancestors who have always guided us in our path. May their blessings take Assam to new heights of peace, progress, unity, and achievements. Best wishes to the Tai Ahom community on this holy occasion."
The festival includes traditional rituals and cultural performances aimed at strengthening the community and maintaining Assamese heritage.
